Working with you to improve your workshop skills!

Hi,

My name is Robert and I am a here to help you improve your workshop skills. My goal is to make this site your go to resource for learning new workshop skills and to provide you with the inspiration to undertake new and unique projects of your own. Hopefully I can save you a bit of money too by showing you some projects that you can make yourself rather than buying them from the shops.

Motivation

It is a real shame that practical workshop skills are being lost in the modern mass produced, disposable society that we now live in. I was fortunate enough to have been taught woodwork and metal work from a young age which helped to shape me into the Engineer I am today. I want to make sure that these skills are not lost and to equip you with them so that you can undertake projects of your own, and ultimately pass these skills on to the next generation.

There is no greater satisfaction than using something that you yourself have created.

Credentials

My interest in making things began when my farther taught me the basics of Woodwork and Metalwork as a child, skills that have now been honed to the point that I am confident enough to pass them on to you. I worked for a while as a sheet metal worker and machinist for an aerospace company before delving into electronics and factory automation for almost a decade. Along the way I picked up qualifications in Manufacturing, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Health and Safety and Automotive Engineering. I am currently working towards a PhD in automotive tyre simulation alongside the creation of this site.

The Site

There are two sides to the site.

1) Projects

For showcasing in-progress and completed projects that aim to inspire you to tackle your own projects. Part of my plan is to produce downloadable plans for some of the projects I have coming up so that you can also enjoy making them.

2) Tips & Tricks

General workshop tips and tricks to help optimise your workshop and projects.

Tutorials, Guides and How-tos.
